First I Had Some Fennel and Then I Had Some Fennel

As I posted earlier this morning, I bought a huge bunch of fennel at the farmer’s market today. I put the call out for recipes. My friend Kerry at Clue Wagon suggested Penne with Roasted Fennel, Cherry Tomatoes and Black Olives. I had already selected Fennel Salad with Lemon (actually, I used orange) and Shrimp and Fennel with Hot Garlic Sauce, but I’ve bookmarked hers for later use.

Fennel Salad with Orange (not Lemon)

I loved the goat cheese in this salad. It helped offset the spiciness in the other dish. The only thing I might add next time is rice wine vinegar to the dressing.

Shrimp and Fennel in Hot Garlic "Sauce"

I wouldn’t say that this recipe produces much of a sauce, but it is nice and spicy. I knew the combination would be good after having made this shrimp and fennel recipe in the past. It does produce quite a yummy sauce. Hmmm…
